Informazioni su questo strumento

iPhones and modern iPads save photos in HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Coding), a format that produces roughly half the file size of JPG at the same quality. The trade-off is compatibility: Windows still asks for a paid Apple codec to open it, many Android apps reject it outright, and a lot of websites and email clients refuse to display it. This converter turns HEIC and HEIF files into universal JPG or PNG entirely in your browser - no upload, no signup, no quality loss beyond what JPG normally implies.

The conversion is powered by libheif compiled to WebAssembly, the same library most desktop photo tools use. EXIF metadata - capture date, camera model, lens, optional GPS - is carried across by default so the converted file slots neatly into your existing photo library and timelines stay correct.

If you'd rather not pass camera or location data along, use the EXIF tool first to strip it. The conversion itself never touches the network: HEIC bytes are decoded in the page, re-encoded into the target format, and offered back as a download.

Funzionalità

  • Batch convert dozens of HEIC or HEIF photos at once
  • JPG or PNG output
  • Quality slider for JPG (default 92, indistinguishable from source)
  • Original EXIF (date, camera, GPS) preserved by default
  • Optional EXIF stripping for privacy
  • Works offline after the first page load
  • Handles iPhone Live Photo HEIC (drops the embedded video, keeps the still)

Come si usa

  1. Drop your HEIC files - dragging straight from a connected iPhone works fine.
  2. Pick output format (JPG for size, PNG for lossless).
  3. Adjust the quality slider if you picked JPG.
  4. Download the converted images individually or as a ZIP.

Domande frequenti

Why does my Windows PC not open HEIC?

Windows requires a paid codec from Apple to open HEIC natively. The codec usually costs around a dollar and Microsoft installs only half of the pair by default. Converting to JPG sidesteps the whole licensing dance and gives you a file that opens anywhere.

Will the conversion lose quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless - every pixel is preserved. JPG output at quality 90 or above is visually identical to the original HEIC for normal viewing. The file will be larger than the HEIC because HEIC compresses more efficiently, but that's the price of universal compatibility.

Does it work on Live Photos?

Yes. Apple Live Photos are HEIC files with an embedded short video. The converter extracts and re-encodes the still image. The motion clip is discarded - if you need it, export from the Photos app instead.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Decoding and re-encoding run entirely in the browser using libheif compiled to WebAssembly. Nothing leaves your device.
